I have always been the entrepreneur type. My goal in life has always been to create value and freedom for myself with my own ventures. I have received a lot of scoffs from people as I try to explain my vision. Normal people just don't get it. When I tell people I am in the entrepreneurship program at the University of Utah, they sarcastically say, "Are you going to start your own business?" like its a bad thing. I'm tired of being surrounded by this crap. My wife told me last night that when she explains to people what I'm in school for, they also scoff and make sarcastic remarks. It makes me feel bad that my wife is put through that.
Lately, my Startup Discovery professor, Rob Wuebker @rwuebker, has been explaining that the five closest people in your life should be the kind of people that share your same values. Everybody else is just wallpaper. I love this concept and I completely believe it, but it's not always easy to make a large like that.
This last weekend, I started networking with a guy out of Canada (I'm international now!) that is helping me with a new venture I want to start. The more you network, the more successful you will be.
